UPDATE: 1,577 pairs of shoes were collected for Solea Water during the shoe drive!

Hey Columbia, MO,

Clean out those closets because it’s time for a shoe drive! Give your old shoes a new life by donating them to Solea Water, a charity providing clean drinking water and economic opportunities to communities in Latin America. Collection boxes are located at Mizzou, Columbia College, Stephens College, and at various businesses around town from March 1 to March 31. Individual and group donations are welcome. To make things fun, Hot Box Cookies will provide a BIG batch of fresh-baked cookies to the group that donates the most shoes during the drive. Are you part of a team, organization, club, company, crew, bunch, or posse that would like to make a donation? Bag them up together, mark them with your group’s name and contact info, and drop them off at one of the collection boxes around town. Cookies will be awarded at the beginning of April! More importantly than collecting in the name of cookies, your shoes will help financially support clean water projects and entrepreneurs in developing countries, and giving shoes a new life means that they will stay out of landfills. So start raiding your closets for new, used, and super used shoes to donate! Every pair donated is a step toward clean water.
